Since 1977, The Great Ski Race® has been one of the largest cross-country ski races west of the Mississippi. Hosted by the Tahoe XC Center, this renowned event serves as the main fundraising race for the Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue Team—a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to winter safety, survival education, and emergency response.
The 2025 race will feature two course options:
The Classic 26km Course – A challenging loop around Mt. Watson, passing Soup Station 1, the 73 road (Fiberboard Freeway), 4 Corners, and finishing via the 74 road back to Carnelian Bay and the Blue Trail at Tahoe XC.
The New 10km Course – A shorter, more accessible route that remains within the Tahoe Cross Country area.
Participants can choose between skiing or snowshoeing the course. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a first-time competitor, this event promises spectacular mountain views, a thrilling challenge, and the opportunity to support an essential cause.
