What guests say about our Tahoe City homes
Rated 4.92 out of 5 by 87 guests who stayed. Our newest reviews here, word for word. All reviews
“We had a wonderful stay, great location, lots of kitchen tools which we appreciate. You see we love to cook! My only reason for 4 stars is the cupboards were disorganized and while some were empty, others were overcrowded because there were so many kitchen tools. Is that bad or good? :-) Loved the large table and parking was ample! Communication was quick and easy. Thank you Mg!”
“Mg’s place was cozy, clean, and comfortable! He’s a great and responsive host - would definitely recommend”
“Mg was a great host and was very accommodating & responsive with our messages! Great view of the lake and loved walking around the neighborhood. Very close to Tahoe city too which was great for dinners and coffee. Our group felt right at home here and loved our time here. Would recommend this place to all!”
“The place was clean and comfortable, fairly priced, and MG provided clear instructions that made check-in and checkout a breeze. The location is peaceful and an easy walk to the beach, which our family loved. We felt right at home the whole time. Would happily stay here again!”
“Great house and an excellent location! Close to Sugar Pine Beach, Tahoe City, Safeway, and Truckee River rafting. The outdoor dining area was perfect for family meals, and the pool table was a lot of fun. The host was friendly and very responsive. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back!”
“This was a fantastic stay for us and our family. The kids loved the house and it was very relaxing for the parents.”

Where to stay in Tahoe City
Tahoe City sits where the Truckee River leaves the lake, at the junction of CA-28 and CA-89. Its downtown along North Lake Boulevard has more restaurants and shops within walking distance than anywhere else on the North Shore, plus Commons Beach and the marina. Homes are on the wooded hillsides above town and along the shore on either side: Lake Forest and Dollar Point to the east, Sunnyside and Tahoe Pines to the south on the West Shore.

Both of our Tahoe City homes are on the Lake Forest side, east of downtown. Trailside Tahoe Townhouse is a 3-bedroom townhouse in Lake Forest Glen, the townhome complex on Lake Forest Road about 2 miles from downtown, with the flat bike path along CA-28 for the ride in. Mammoth Haven Retreat, a 4-bedroom house with a hot tub, is a little further east. For more choice within a short drive, our Carnelian Bay homes are a few miles further along the North Shore.
What's close by
Commons Beach is the town's public beach and lawn, with summer concerts. The paved Truckee River Trail follows the river from town toward Olympic Valley, and in summer the river below the dam is the North Shore's classic rafting float. Palisades Tahoe, including Alpine Meadows, is the nearest major ski resort, a short drive up CA-89. For mornings, see breakfast in Tahoe City.

Getting here in winter
CA-89 from Truckee and I-80 is the main road in, and both it and CA-28 east of town get chain controls after storms. Downtown parking is tight on summer weekends, so walk or bike in from the house when you can.

Good to know before you go
- Commons Beach hosts the summer concert series in the middle of town.
- The Truckee River Trail runs from town toward Alpine Meadows, flat and paved.
